...and contempt for all

My head is starting to reel. We're seeing one corruption scandal after another. Currently on the plate:

1. Plamegate.
2. Abramoffgate
3. Graftgate
4. Gerrymandergate
5. Propagandagate
6. Cunninghamgate

And, these are just the tip of the iceberg. These are just the stories that occupy today's front page. There were more last week, and there will be more next week. I yearn for the Clinton years, who seemingly had a one-at-a-time screwing policy. Yes, the Clinton administration had scandals. But, George II's regime is racking up the points big time. Welcome to the history books. I think that II's regime is going into the books as the most corrupt U.S. government in history. Way to go!

What was that promise? I forget the exact words, but something about "restoring dignity and integrity to government." Woooooo! They really had us going... for the first 10 minutes or so. As one pundit recently wrote, we're now learning what happens when the people in charge of government have complete contempt not only for government itself, but for the voters and the country. Cynicism, hypocrisy and opportunism pervade every nook, cranny and crevice.

What's especially worrisome is that the voters might not even get a chance to change things. If this is correct, the corrupt own the voting process, and can pretty much crank out whatever electoral result they want.
