Analogy

Take a giant wet vac and start "emptying" the oceans. Run a drain hose from the wet vac into the ocean so that the vacuumed water has some place to go (but, filter everything using a net—we'll call the stuff that gets caught in the net "money," for lack of a better term). Run the vac at full speed until the ocean contains no more water.

Now you have a picture of the model that Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney & Co. are using. They are emptying the ocean (ridding the world of terrorism). The defense industry has generously agreed to empty the nets so that they don't get clogged and otherwise interfere with the process of emptying water from the ocean.

It's not important that the ocean actually gets emptied. What's important is that the vacuum not run out of power. So, we power this vacuum by telling people that if the vacuum ever stops, the country will be flooded (let's call this mechanism "fear").

The liberal media want us all to drown, and keep trying to get the U.S. to turn off the vacuum. Fortunately, Bush is ignoring them, and it's a damn good thing he is. A bumper sticker I saw on a Hummer last week says it best:

"Thank God for President Bush!"

I saw another bumper sticker on a Civic hybrid, too. This person was also lauding U.S. military policy, and better still, the driver seems to grasp the dynamic vacuum model that the administration is using to fight terrorism. His bumper sticker said quite simply "Bush Sucks!" Clearly, he understands, and fully supports Bush's God-given mission.
